This salad comes together easily. I used store-bought smoked salmon to cut down on time and make this a super convenient dish. I take a 30 minute lunch break most days and from start to finish I was able to assemble this salad in less than 10 minutes.

Peeling the grapefruit took up the majority of the prep time. The dressing was as simple as 1-2-3.

This salmon salad has mad flavor, which deserves calling out because the flavor is all that.

  • Cold Smoked Salmon
  • Arugula
  • Lemon juice
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Grapefruit
  • Avocado slices
  • Red onion
  • Aleppo Pepper (optional)

How To Make Cold Salmon Salad (Step by Step)

Directions for this recipe are really unnecessary. You are basically a salad assembly artist since there is no cooking and very little cutting involved.

Make the Dressing

Mix together the lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, and Aleppo pepper if using. Set aside.

Make the Salad

Cut the smoked salmon into pieces based on your preferred sizes.

Add arugula and sliced red onions to a large mixing bowl and then toss with the salad dressing. Assemble greens and onions on a plates or shallow bowls. Layor on the smoked salmon, grapefruit slices, and avocado. Season with sea salt and cracked black pepper if needed. Serve and enjoy!

Yes indeed. As long as you have a smoker that is well suited for indirect heat and allows you to cook at lower temperatures. Be warned cold smoking requires a lot of time, so plan accordingly!
